Cost-efficient renewable energy is currently regarded as a scare resource. However, technological advancements are providing new eco-investments that challenge this view. This paper provides a capital budgeting analysis using a cost-benefit approach to determine the financial implications of investing in geothermal technology to heat a major structural building. Specifically, Karpen Hall a 64,000 square foot structure on the campus of University of North Carolina at Asheville.
