I will use statistical analysis and multivariable regression to see if a gender gap exists in faculty pay with specifically professors that are teaching at UNC-Asheville. If there is a salary gap, I want to see if gender discrimination is contributing to the pay gap between the men and women professors while controlling for other factors that would influence the salaries for professors. This project interests me as it is relatable to many people in not only the existing work force but those that are beginning their job search as new graduates and will soon be competing with other people for the same job position. It would be very interesting to see if and by how much our gender make-up can cause salaries to differ from one another when comparing salaries of employees with the same job title and responsibilities that are associated with a given title.
