In “Strategies for Becoming an Independent Artist: Using Theatre as a Community Center,” I, Alwyn Mothershed, will lay out a model and business plan for a community theatre that would also provide a place for artists to collaborate at all hours, provide a season of professional but affordable shows, provide opportunities for local youth, and create a stable place for the community to gather. Ideally, this space will provide opportunities for everyone in the community to participate and congregate, whether it be for theatre, art, or dinner. I will be working with Scott Walters in the Drama Department to research ways to make this possible.
